Dawson-Boyd drubs Adrian

DAWSON -- Dawson-Boyd proved to be the giant killer for the second straight game, knocking off a ranked Adrian team 27-14 in Little Sioux Conference football action Thursday.

The Blackjacks (6-1, 6-1) beat then No.1-ranked Minneota Friday. Adrian, rated ninth this week, was last year's state runner-up to the Vikings.

Dawson-Boyd, ranked No. 8 in this week's Class A poll, scored 13 points in the fourth quarter to earn the victory. Quarterback Ryan Swenson ran for a 42-yard touchdown to give the Blackjacks the lead, then Justin Lee added some insurance with a six-yard touchdown run.

Swenson, who rushed for 68 yards, broke a scoreless tie in the second quarter with a 23-yard TD run.

Adrian responded with 14 third-quarter points, then Swenson found Esten Weber for a 55-yard scoring play to tie the game.

Swenson also passed for 136 yards. Lee carried the ball 15 times for 101 yards.
