MADISON -- Derek Dyrdahl rushed for 185 yards and two touchdowns and Yellow Medicine East held Lac qui Parle Valley to under 200 yards of offense as the Sting upended West Central South Conference rival LQPV 20-6 in the regular-season finale Thursday.
The two could meet again in less than a week as the Section 5AA playoffs begin on Tuesday.
The Sting (5-2, 5-3) led 20-0 before the Eagles (3-4, 3-5) found the end zone. Bobby Lecy fired an eight-yard pass to Mason Hegna in the second quarter and Dyrdahl scored on a 45-yard run also in the second quarter to give YME a 13-0 lead at halftime.
Dyrdahl, a junior tailback, then found the end zone from five yards out in the fourth quarter before Sam Haas ran nine yards to paydirt with 4:28 left.
LQPV had marched down to the YME five-yard line in its previous possession before turning the ball over on downs.

Lecy also threw a 30-yard pass to Hegna and a 22-yard strike to Tyler Sand.
Ryan Hoium ran for 114 yards while Zach Moen and Ryan Bergerson each had an interception for the Eagles.
