WILLMAR -- Ridgewater made a 14-point lead at halftime stick as the Lady Warriors tripped up Fergus Falls 79-69 in a MCAC Southern Division women's basketball game Wednesday.
The Lady Warriors (2-6, 9-13) shot just under 50 percent from the field in the first half -- the Spartans (0-7, 7-14) fired at only 27 percent -- to own a comfortable 44-30 lead at halftime.
Ridgewater then withstood six 3-pointers from Fergus Falls in the second half to snap a two-game skid.
Kelsey Guetter's double-double of 22 points and 11 rebounds ignited the Ridgewater offense. Alison Mason followed with 14 points, Chelsea Voorhees 12 and Kari Caspers 10.
"It was a much needed win," said Ridgewater coach Carrie Ogdahl. "We will take that. But we did let them get back in the second half."

The Lady Warriors shot only 37 percent from the field in the second half, but they overcame that by going 15-for-20 from the free-throw line.
Whitney Moore drained five 3-pointers and netted a game-high 23 points for Fergus Falls. Kelsey Draper, who played at Morris/Chokio-Alberta in high school, was next in the scoring column with eight points.
Ridgewater hosts Minneapolis on Saturday at 1 p.m.
