MORRIS -- Jake Forcier scored five touchdowns and unbeaten Eden Valley-Watkins secured its seventh consecutive trip to the state tournament after beating BOLD 42-7 Friday in the Section 5AA championship at Big Cat Stadium.
The No. 2-ranked Eagles (11-0) shut down BOLD's explosive running game en route to advancing to next Friday's quarterfinal round of the Class AA state tournament. The Eagles will meet Moose Lake/Willow River at St. Cloud State University.
With the exception of Peter Euerle's two field goals and four extra-point kicks, Forcier accounted for nearly all of the scoring for Eden Valley-Watkins. The senior wide receiver caught two touchdowns from quarterback Brendan Ashton and ran for three other scores.
The Warriors (8-3) trailed 17-0 before Jacob Marcus hauled in a 46-yard scoring strike from Kyle Athmann in the second quarter. BOLD was forced to punt later in the quarter, which gave the Eagles more time to produce another first-half touchdown just before halftime.
The Eden Valley-Watkins' defense shut out BOLD in the second half while its offense produced another 18 points to open the floodgates.

BOLD running back Alex Steffel, the area's leading rusher, was held to just 19 yards on 11 carries.
