FERGUS FALLS -- The Fergus Falls Otters battled back from a 21-point deficit to defeat Willmar 40-27 in a Central Lakes Conference wrestling match on Saturday.
The Cardinals started with four wins: a 10-2 decision by Nate Mitag, a technical fall by Alex Johannes, a pin from Seth Pollock followed by a forfeit at 125 for a 21-0 lead.
But Willmar would get wins at only two of the remaining 10 weight classes -- Adam Fagerstrom, a 1-0 decision at the 135, and Cody Stegeman, a 10-5 decision at 160.
Fergus Falls (2-0, 5-2) led 28-27 after Ryan Thompson pinned the Cardinals' Lucas Kremer at 189 pounds, but Willmar (0-2, 0-2) didn't have a wrestler to send out at either of the last two weights so ended up losing by 13.
