Football: BOLD rumbles past Yellow Medicine East

OLIVIA -- BOLD dominated the line of scrimmage, piling up 282 yards on the ground en route to a 28-7 win over Yellow Medicine East in West Central South Conference football action Friday.

OLIVIA -- BOLD dominated the line of scrimmage, piling up 282 yards on the ground en route to a 28-7 win over Yellow Medicine East in West Central South Conference football action Friday.

The Sting (2-1, 2-2) got on the scoreboard first with a Derek Dyrdahl one-yard touchdown run.

After that, it was all BOLD. The Warriors' defense collected three interceptions and returned two of them for TDs. Bryan Rothmeier put BOLD on the board with a 22-yard return, then Shawn Dollerschell picked off a third-quarter pass and went 23 yards for a score. Drew Diekman also had an interception.

Brent O'Halloran recorded the other two BOLD (2-1, 2-2) touchdowns. He scored on runs of 65 and 1 yard and finished with 174 yards on 20 carries.

In 62 total plays, the Warriors ran 50 times, had six penalties and passed three times without making a completion.

Montevideo 14, Benson 12

Benson (0-3, 0-4) threatened to take over the lead late in the game, but the Braves turned the ball over on downs inside the Montevideo (2-1, 3-1) 30-yard line with 40 seconds left in the game.

Troy Hendrickson threw touchdown passes covering 8 and 13 yards to Tom Grages to account for Montevideo's two scores. Hendrickson completed 18-of-28 passes for 258 yards with Ryan Boike hauling in five passes for 85 yards.

Glencoe-Silver Lake, Class AAA's top-ranked team, posted its fourth shutout of the season by limiting Litchfield to just five first downs and 101 yards of offense.

The Dragons (2-2, 2-2) limited the Panthers (3-0, 4-0) to nine first downs and 219 yards of offense, but Glencoe-Silver Lake scored twice on punt returns and returned the kickoff to start the second half down to the Litchfield two-yard line to set up another score.
