Football: MACCRAY turns back RCW, 41-14

RENVILLE -- MACCRAY threw for 272 yards en route to beating Renville County West 41-14 in Little Sioux Conference football action Friday.

The Wolverines (2-1, 2-1) scored the first 41 points in the game. Two of MACCRAY's touchdown passes accounted for 154 yards -- a 90-yard connection from Caleb Hanson to Tyler Wrede and a 64-yarder from Hanson to Wrede. Shaun Condon also caught a two-yard TD pass. Hanson completed 11 of 17 passes for 266 yards and three touchdowns. Wrede finished with three receptions for 154 yards.

Darrin Caspers ran for two 90 yards in 13 carries, including two touchdown runs of three yards each.

For the Jaguars (0-3, 0-3), Trent Novotny scored both touchdowns on runs of eight and seven yards, respectively. He finished with 100 of RCW's 219 rushing yards.

The unbeaten Blackjacks (3-0, 3-0) scored in every quarter and shut out Russell-Tyler-Ruthton (1-2, 1-2) for the fourth consecutive meeting.

Ryan Swenson threw touchdown passes of 38 and 48 yards to Andrew Roiger and also scored on a short run for Dawson-Boyd.

NU Cathedral 53, BLH 0

New Ulm Cathedral (3-0, 3-0), ranked second in the latest Associated Press Class A state poll, returned two punts for touchdowns and rushed for 280 yards.

New Ulm Cathedral scored four times in the first quarter and never looked back. Greg Genelin scored twice on punt returns of 53 and 54 yards and also scored on a one-yard run.

Josue Gomez rushed for 52 yards for Buffalo Lake-Hector (0-3, 0-3). Austin Ludowese completed 16 of 32 passes for 93 yards and two interceptions for the Mustangs. Zach Wieweck caught five passes for 43 yards.
