MONTEVIDEO -- Redwood Valley's Lukas Vaeth booted a 40-yard field goal, then Erich Panitzke intercepted a pass to secure a 16-13 win over Montevideo in a Section 3AAA quarterfinal football game Tuesday.
Vaeth gave Redwood a 16-13 lead with 6:04 left in the fourth quarter. The Thunder Hawks got the ball to midfield, but Panitzke picked off a pass in Redwood territory.
Montevideo forced a punt, but ran out of time at around midfield.
Tom Grages and Troy Hendrickson hooked up twice for Thunder Hawk touchdowns. The first was a five-yarder in the second quarter and the last was a 20-yarder in the third.
Trevor Sandgren ran a kickoff back 99 yards for the Cardinals' first TD. Jesse Leith caught a three-yard pass from Shane Johnson to give Redwood a 13-7 going into halftime.

Derek Koll fell on a blocked Zimmerman punt in the end zone and Dom Devine hauled in a 24-yard pass from David Yordi for Litchfield (3-6) in the fourth quarter, but Zimmerman had already put up 33 points to cruise into the semifinals.
Nate Adams blocked two punts and had a sack for the Dragons, which was outgained 422-155 in total offense by the No. 3-seeded Thunder (5-4).
