GRANITE FALLS -- Yellow Medicine East and Morris Area slogged through the mud to the tune of 268 total yards of offense, but the Sting made the most of five Tigers turnovers and prevailed 20-6 in West Central South Conference football action Wednesday.
Tyler Sand scored two touchdowns on runs of 15 and seven yards, finishing with 61 yards on 16 carries for YME (4-2, 4-3). Mason Hegna recovered a fumble on the last play of the game and returned it nine yards for a touchdown.
Tyler Hansen paced the Tigers' (3-3, 4-3) offense with 110 yards rushing.

Mitch Tauer's two-point conversion run in the second quarter after his 38-yard touchdown pass to Trevor Heining proved to be the difference as Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City (3-3, 3-4) won for the third time in its last four games. Tauer also completed a 23-yard scoring strike to Evan Blackwell in the third quarter.
Erik Whitcomb opened and closed the scoring for the Falcons with two TD runs and ran for 195 yards on 33 carries.
Derek Hilleren scored on a 60-yard run in the second quarter and later returned a blocked punt 40 yards in the third quarter for another Benson (1-5, 1-6) score. Cody Jaeger threw two TD passes and completed 15 of 26 passes for 193 yards.

Minnewaska (4-2, 4-3) led 12-0 at halftime, but Paynesville rallied back.
Ryan Klevin, the Lakers' 235-pound fullback, barged in from the one on third down and Trenton Berg nailed the extra point for a 27-20 lead.
On fourth down from the 10, Paynesville's Jason Kampsen threw to Tyler Hemmesch for a touchdown. On the conversion, though, Kampsen was flushed from pocket and his pass fell incomplete.
