Willmar head football coach Jon Konold has one more game to coach in 2019.
On Tuesday night, the Minnesota Football Coaches Association announced the rosters and coaches for the 47th Annual Minnesota Football Showcase. Konold, who wrapped up his 11th season at the Cardinals’ head coach, is slated to be the head coach for the North All-Stars. Assistant coaches for the North include: Paul Clark, Mahnomen/Waubun; Mike Empting, Alexandria; Peter Heryla, Columbia Heights; Tom Nelson, Two Harbors; and Phil Trowbridge, Barnesville.
The South All-Stars will also have some local talent as Montevideo head coach David Vik is listed as an assistant coach. Brad Wondland of Waseca is the South head coach and, along with Vik, the assistant coaches include: Andy Hill, Woodbury; Mat Mahoney, Fairmont; Tony Poncelet, Goodhue; and Dave Zeithick, St. Paul Highland Park.
Two area football players will hit the field for the Football Showcase. Paynesville offensive lineman Spence Evans will play for the North All-Stars, and BOLD offensive lineman Brady Ridley was picked for the South All-Stars.
The Minnesota Football Showcase will take place at 1:05 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 7 at US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.
