Gators take 3rd, Thunder Hawks 4th at conference meet

Sauk Centre wins the West Central championship, to out-swim Melrose, Minnewaska/Morris, Montevideo and Holdingford

MONTEVIDEO — Sauk Centre won the West Central Conference girls swimming and diving championships Friday at Montevideo, scoring 646 points to out-pace Melrose (601), Minnewaska/Morris (394), Montevideo (325) and Holdingford (232).

Montevideo’s Greta Rongstad finished second in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2 minutes, 5.43 seconds. Rongstad also was second in the 500 freestyle, finishing in 5:44.90. The Thunder Hawks’ Cortney Pauling was second in the 50 freestyle with a 25.41.

Minnewaska/Morri’s Audrey Dorweiler finished second in the 200 individual medley in 2:24.98. Dorweiler also took second in the 100 butterfly with a 1:03.65.
