BIWABIK -- Nordic skiers found snow at Giants Ridge for one of the nation's largest prep invites Saturday.
After six-weeks of dryland training and two meets on made snow, the Willmar Cardinals got to compete on trails at the base of the downhill ski runs, along with some 65 other schools. Most of the extensive trail network at the resort lacked sufficient cover.
Willmar had one top-100 finisher. Eighth-grader Jack Erickson placed 90th in the 5k freestyle in a time of 16 minutes, 46 seconds.
Willmar is at Powder Ridge on Tuesday; Thursday's meet at Fergus Falls is cancelled.
