BELGRADE - A 20-point advantage at halftime grew even bigger in the second half for third-seeded Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa as the Jaguars drubbed Royalton 68-31 in the quarterfinals of the Section 5A-South tournament Thursday.
BBE, which was 2-7 in its last nine games of the regular season, improved to 13-14 and will face No. 2 Upsala (16-11) in the semifinals Saturday at 7:45 p.m. in Pierz. The two haven’t met this season.
The other semifinal Saturday pits No. 1 Isle vs. No. 5 Kimball.
Three Jaguars scored in double figures with Hailey Braegelman leading the way with 13 points. Becca Gruber followed with 12 and Alex Evenson 10 as BBE shot just under 50 percent from the field. Gruber didn’t miss a shot in 6 attempts.
Braegelman also led the team with 6 rebounds - Megan Weller pulled in another 5 - and Kinlee Swanson added 8 points and 7 steals.
