Girls Basketball: BLHS wins battle of unbeatens, 69-45

SPRINGFIELD -- Karlee Ilgen piled up 18 points and 12 rebounds and two other players scored in double figures for Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart as the Mustangs rolled past Springfield 69-45 in a battle of two unbeaten Tomahawk Conference teams Monday.

The Class A No. 5-ranked Mustangs (2-0, 4-0) owned a slim 35-32 lead at halftime before limiting the Tigers (1-1, 3-1) to just 13 points in the second half. Springfield shot just 24 percent from the field while the Mustangs fired at a 50-percent clip.

Ilgen was 9-for-11 from the field and also grabbed 9 of the team's 30 defensive rebounds. Courtney Kramer shot 50 percent from the field to add 12 points and Jessie Kalenberg followed with 10 points after making 5 of 8 shots.

Kalenberg ignited the offense by also dishing out eight assists. The Mustangs collected 22 assists as a team while committing only 13 turnovers.
