HUTCHINSON - Willmar needed a big second-half output to do so but the Cardinals remained undefeated with a hard-fought, 59-51 non-conference victory over Hutchinson on Tuesday.
The Cardinals, now 9-0, trailed by six at the break but scored 40 second-half points to hold off the 7-5 Tigers.
"That was a next level win tonight," said Cardinals head coach Dustin Carlson. "In the first half we were so passive around the hoop and kept turning it over in situations we should have scored on. But the second half we finished with a purpose and kept the turnovers down. I'm so proud of the girls tonight."
Abby Berskow led the Cardinals with 11 points and she also had six steals.
Cayle Hovland had 10 points and six rebounds.
