MADISON -- Micaela Erickson reached the 1,000-point milestone of her girls basketball career Monday, but Lac qui Parle Valley fell to Milbank, S.D., 78-68 in non-conference action.
Erickson, who needed 27 points to hit the mark, scored a career-high 34 points to lead the Eagles (12-8). She also tied a school record for most points in game.
The Eagles came out of halftime tied with Milbank (13-6), but by the time Erickson made a jumper with 1:24 left to make 1,000, LQPV was down by nine and needed a timeout.
The announcement was made to the crowd at that time, but Erickson wasn't given the game ball until after the contest was over.
She is the fifth girl at LQPV to reach 1,000 points.
