HANCOCK -- After three minutes of a Section 6A-South quarterfinal girls basketball game, Hancock secured a 12-2 lead without a thought of giving the lead back.
The Owls finished Thursday with an 81-50 win over Ashby and will move on to the subsection semifinals against Brandon/Evansville Saturday in Morris.
Hancock (21-3) cruised into halftime with a 49-25 advantage.
Bree Holleman led a balanced attack with 15 points and six assists. Lauren Nelson and Kendra Schmidgall contributed 12 points each and Lindsie Cunningham and Illissa Koehl followed with 10 points apiece.
Amanda Johnson had 27 points to lead Ashby (11-13).
