BENSON -- Benson made 6-of-7 free throws in the last 2:30 to ice Hancock 64-59 in non-conference girls basketball action Friday.
The game was tied 55-55 with 2:30 remaining when Julia Ahrndt hit her second three-pointer of the game. Then the Braves put the contest out of reach from the line. Abby Fragodt made 4 of 4 from the stripe down the stretch. Benson converted 21-of-28 foul shots overall.
Fragodt finished with 20 points for the Braves (14-9). Ahrndt added 11 points, and Jenny Bouta and Emily Auch 10 points.
Bree Holleman paced the Owls (16-3) with 29 points, including five 3-pointers. Illissa Koehl added 13 points.

Liberty Slinden's three-point play gave the Falcons a 61-58 lead with 10 seconds left. The Tigers' Jenna Nelson sank a three-point shot with 1.5 seconds left to tie it 61-all.
ACGC's inbound pass went the length of the court and out of bounds without being touched. The Tigers then got to inbound under the ACGC basket and Megan Dierks sank a 15-footer along the baseline for the win.
