Girls Basketball: Morris/CA holds off YME for 3rd straight win, 56-52

MORRIS -- Mary Rentz scored 12 of her team-high 17 points in the second half and Morris/Chokio-Alberta held off Yellow Medicine East 56-52 in a West Central South Conference girls basketball game on Saturday.

Morris/CA trailed most of the first half until Jenna Nelson drained a three-pointer right before the buzzer to give the Tigers a 26-24 lead.

Rentz's basket on a drive down the lane gave the Tigers a four-point lead with two minutes left and YME never got closer.

Nicole Gillespie added 14 points and Nelson finished with 13 points and eight rebounds for Morris/CA (3-1, 5-2).

Eight players scored between four and nine points for YME (3-3, 5-3), led by Angie Scheffler with nine. Aimee Johnson added eight points and six steals.

Riley Nordgaard tossed in 24 points and Courtney Slaba added 15 as the Lancers (7-0, 10-1) remained unbeaten in the Camden South Conference.

Sam Dunn led KMS (4-3, 4-6) with 15 points. Ali Clark notched 10 points. Katelyn Lottman finished with nine points and seven rebounds.
