MORRIS -- Morris/-Chokio-Alberta overcame poor free-throw shooting and Micaela Erickson's 37 points to beat Lac qui Parle Valley 57-56 Friday in West Central South Conference girls basketball game.
Nicole Gillespie made one of two free-throw attempts with 13 seconds left to give the Tigers (9-3, 13-5) a 57-53 lead. Erickson then hit a trey to pull the Eagles within one, but there was just one second remaining and Morris/Chokio-Alberta inbounded to end the game.
Gillespie's make at the charity stripe was the only foul shot the Tigers made in their last eight attempts.
Gillespie and Mary Rentz both had 13 points to pace the Tigers' offense. Jenna Nelson added nine points, eight assists, six rebounds and five steals.

Sarah Roering and Kaylee Jacobs sealed the upset win for the Lakers. Roering made one of two free throws to put Minnewaska ahead, 54-52, then Jacobs converted a steal into a layup with about two seconds left.
Allie Ostrander led Minnewaska with 20 points. Jacobs added 11 points and eight rebounds, and Roering had 10 points and nine boards.
Emily Auch's 15 points paced the Braves. Taylor Semler added 11 points. Abby Fragodt pulled down nine rebounds.
