NEW LONDON -- Albany held New London-Spicer to just three field goals in the second half en route to handing the Wildcats their first loss of the season as Albany collected a 50-41 West Central North Conference win in girls basketball Tuesday.

The Wildcats (8-1, 15-1) owned a slim 31-29 lead at halftime, but they were only 3-for-15 from the field in the final 18 minutes of play. Albany (7-2, 9-5) outscored NLS 21-10 in the second half.

"We didn't attack their defense very well," said NLS coach Mike Dreier. "We turned (the ball) over way too many times."

Taylor Thompsen and Karli Wendlandt had 10 points apiece to pace NLS, which was second in the latest Class AA Minnesota Basketball News state poll.
