Girls Basketball Roundup: ACGC beats up Wolverines

GROVE CITY -- Maree Lee scored 25 points, Kaitlyn Moore had 17 points and 12 rebounds and Kendra Miller finished with 14 points in Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City's 68-51 non-conference win over MACCRAY on Monday.

GROVE CITY - Maree Lee scored 25 points, Kaitlyn Moore had 17 points and 12 rebounds and Kendra Miller finished with 14 points in Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City’s 68-51 non-conference win over MACCRAY on Monday.

The Falcons took a 19-point lead into halftime en route to winning their second straight. They improved to 5-13 and will play host to Paynesville in a West Central Conference game at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in Grove City.

Ali Siverhus scored 19 points for the Wolverines and she also had seven rebounds and five steals.

The Wolverines fell to 4-14 and they play host to BOLD at 7:30 p.m. today in Clara City.

Yellow Medicine East held a substantial advantage on the boards and defeated Central Minnesota Christian School 50-40 in a non-conference game Monday.

Chyanne Sand, Maggie Scheffler and Anna McCosh combined for 37 of the Sting’s 57 rebounds. YME won the rebound battle 57-35 as the team extended its winning streak to six games.

Jordan Hinz scored 14 points and Makayla Dyrdahl had 12 points. Sand finished with six points and 17 rebounds, and Scheffler and McCosh both pulled down 10 rebounds.

Lexi Scott led the Bluejays with 14 points and eight rebounds. Abby Zwart had 11 points and Erin Orred led the Bluejays with 11 rebounds.

CMCS, which has lost three straight, plays at Renville County West at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

The New London-Spicer girls basketball team took command in the first half and cruised to a non-conference victory over Howard Lake-Waverly on Monday at New London-Spicer High School.

The Wildcats, who led by 21 at the break, got a double-double from Megan Thorson, who scored 16 points and grabbed 11 rebounds.

NLS, ranked No. 5 in Class AA, improved to 14-3 overall while HLWW fell to 6-12.

The Wildcats play host to another non-conference foe, Benson, at 7:30 p.m. today.

Against HLWW, Shea Oman scored 12 points and had four steals, and Kabrie Weber finished with five points, nine rebounds and nine assists. Ashlyn Geister had eight points, seven rebounds and four blocked shots.

Hailey Braegelman piled up 24 points and eight rebounds to help the Jaguars sweep the season series with Kimball. Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa also won 50-29 on Dec. 19.

Braegelman was the only Jaguar to score in double figures as Bailey Buchholz followed with nine points and Peyton Miller seven. Miller and Kinlee Swanson added three steals each and Alex Evenson pulled in five rebounds.

The Jaguars (8-1, 11-6) is at Melrose today for a non-conference game.
