ANNANDALE - Maranna Gunnerson scored with 8 seconds left and Annandale upset No. 7-ranked New London-Spicer 58-57 on Friday in Annandale.

The Cardinals (2-6, 7-10) got two offensive rebounds before the go-ahead basket, and then blocked NLS’ final shot at the buzzer.

Hannah Spaulding paced Annandale with 16 points and Emma Whitesell added 12, while Gunnerson finished with 6.

Taylor Thunstedt’s 23 points and 6 assists led the Wildcats, who fell to 6-2, 14-3.

Megan Thorson, Brianna Fredrick and Olivia Setterberg each scored 8 points, and Thorson added 8 rebounds.

Carly Sigurdson scored 31 points in the BOLD win, but was still nine behind the game’s leader - Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop freshman Halley Busse, who scored 40 and had all 7 of her team’s 3-pointers. The ninth-grade guard already scored her 1,000th career point, coming against St. James on Thursday.

But BOLD’s more balanced offense prevailed, with Baylie Kubesh adding 17 points and Mariyah Stimpel 8.

Kubesh picked up 8 rebounds and 4 assists, and Stimpel had 7 rebounds and 3 steals.
