MADISON - Lac qui Parle Valley hung with top-five Minneota but couldn’t pull off the upset, losing 57-42 on Friday in a Camden Conference game.

The Eagles were within six at halftime and stayed within seven much of the second half before the Vikings pulled away, said LQPV head coach Ryan Giles.

“They can score eight, 10 points just like that,” Giles said. “Once she went, she went.”

The Eagles fell to 10-2 in the Camden and 15-3 overall. Minneota improved to 11-0 in the conference and 17-4 overall. The Vikings were ranked No. 4 in the last Class AA poll.

Kelsea Lund hit three 3-point shots and led the Eagles with 15 points. Kaitlin Connor had 12 points and seven rebounds.

Taylor Reiss had 23 points and 11 boards for the Vikings, who also got 22 points from Emily Stienessen.

The Eagles play at Morris/Chokio-Alberta at 7:30 p.m. Monday.

Kayla Schaefer broke the Paynesville school record for career points, but it wasn’t enough to beat the Lakers in a conference game on Friday.

Carley Stewart’s 22 points led the Lakers, and Bayley Pooler scored 15 points with four 3-pointers while Ariel Ostrander collected eight points and eight rebounds.

Schaefer entered the game needing 11 points to tie the Bulldogs’ record of 1,249. She netted 17 to break the record and finished the game with a career mark of 1,255.

She broke the previous record of 1,249 set by Angie Deegan in 1994. 

Rian Lee added 11 points for the Bulldogs, and grabbed nine rebounds.

Hannah Norlin scored a game-high 24 points and grabbed 14 rebounds as Litchfield defeated Glencoe-Silver Lake 71-62 on Friday in Wright County Conference play. Macy Huhner scored 19 points, with six of them being 3-pointers, in the win. 

The Panthers trailed by 14 points after halftime, but could not obtain enough scoring in the second half to get the away victory.

Maddie Monahan recorded a double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds, while Mckenna Monahan chipped in 19 points in the loss. Litchfield hosts Minnewaska on Tuesday at 6 p.m.

A 10-point deficit couldn’t keep Dawson-Boyd from winning its fourth straight as the Blackjacks (17-2) outscored the visiting Thunder Hawks 36-21 in the second half. Montevideo made six more field goals than Dawson-Boyd, but the Blackjacks were 21-for-29 at the free-throw line while Montevideo was 5-of-6.

Justine Lee went off for 26 points, Kelly Husby collected 10 points, nine rebounds, five assists and three steals, and Alyssa Strand supplied nine points, seven rebounds and three steals for Dawson-Boyd.

Morgan Reidinger had a near double-double with 13 points and nine rebounds to spark Montevideo. Lexi Quigley followed with 11 points and Alexis Schmitz chipped in seven rebounds.

Montevideo (9-10) hosts Melrose on Thursday and Dawson-Boyd has a week off until playing next Friday at Renville County West.

Yellow Medicine East ran its winning streak to eight games with a non-conference victory over Renville County West on Friday.

Chyanne Sand had another huge game, with 16 points, 20 rebounds and seven steals. Jordan Hinz had 12 points.

RCW’s Steph Zaske finished with 15 points and seven rebounds, and Carli Krogman scored 11 points.

The Sting, now 13-6 overall, play at Melrose at 7:30 p.m. Monday.

The Jaguars play host to Lac qui Parle Valley at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Karisa Wubben scored 13 points, Kalley Schwitters 11, and Alexis Scott grabbed 12 rebounds as Central Minnesota Christian School defeated BOLD at home on Friday in a non-conference game.

With only a three-point first-half lead, CMCS was able to keep up the momentum after the break to get the win.

Emily Gass chipped in 13 points for BOLD and Makenna Steffel added eight points in the loss.

Up next for the Bluejays will be MACCRAY on Tuesday, while BOLD hosts Benson on Thursday.
