MANKATO - Mankato West pulled out to a big first-half lead and Willmar couldn’t catch up, falling 73-59 in a non-conference game Thursday.
The Scarlets hit five 3-point shots in the first half and led by 20 at the break. The Scarlets also hit 25 of 28 free throws.
“Those threes in first half killed us,” said Willmar head coach Dustin Carlson. “We got the lead down to six in the second half but we ran out of gas. It was too deep of a hole.”
The Cardinals played better in the second half, he said.
