Girls basketball: Sting win 10th straight game

PAYNESVILLE - Chyanne Sand stole an outlet pass as Paynesville was trying for a last-second shot and hit a layup that clinched Yellow Medicine East’s 56-52 West Central Conference victory on Thursday.
YME led 54-52 and went to the free throw line with six seconds left, missing the front end. Paynesville rebounded the miss but Sand stepped in front of the pass as the Bulldogs tried to break upcourt.
The Sting have won 10 straight games and 13 of their last 15. They play ACGC on Tuesday in Granite Falls.
Paynesville fell to 5-8 in the WCC and 7-11 overall. They play host to Morris/Chokio-Alberta at 7:30 p.m. today.
Sand finished with eight points, Makayla Dyrdahl scored a game-high 17 points and Britanna Raddatz scored 14. Sand also had eight rebounds to set the Stings’ career record.
Paynesville’s Kayla Schaefer scored 16 points and had nine rebounds and Rian Lee finished with 15 points and 11 boards.
