Girls Basketball: Waska repels ACGC to stay tied for lead

GROVE CITY -- Minnewaska Area held Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City without a point for 5:30 during one stretch in the second half and drubbed the Falcons 52-41 in a West Central South Conference girls basketball on Tuesday night.

The Lakers (10-1, 13-3) needed the win to stay tied with Morris/Chokio-Alberta for the loop lead. ACGC (7-3, 9-8) falls two games behind in the race. Minnewaska got balanced scoring with Cassie Jacobs scoring 11 points, Brittany Mensing and Alicia Pfeninger 10 apiece and Emily Roering had nine.

Kayla Dallmann and Chastity Pautzke had eight points each for ACGC.

Lac qui Parle Valley owned an early 15-3 lead before Benson stormed back and eventually grabbed a 29-26 lead at halftime. But the second half belonged to the Eagles (6-6, 10-6) as they were 16-for-21 from the free-throw line.

Micaela Erickson with 19 points, Whitley Strei 18 and Andrea Rheigans 10 paced the Eagles' attack.
