ROSEAU - The River Lakes girls hockey team’s best season in the program’s history ended abruptly with a 3-1 loss to Roseau in the Section 8AA semifinals on Tuesday at the Ram Center.
Roseau’s Tianna Gunderson scored goals in the first and second periods and goalie Jenna Baumgartner made 14 saves.
River Lakes’ Sam Mugge scored on an assist from Elle Anderson with 28 seconds left in the game. The goal came just 17 seconds after the Rams’ clinched the game with an empty net goal.
River Lakes goalie Jordyn Tomaszewski made 29 saves.
The Stars finished 21-5-1. In their previous best seasons, the Stars won 15 games last season, 13 in 2012-13, 14 in 2008-09 and 13 in in 2005-06.

“We had a lot of success this season to make it this far,” said Stars head coach Jack Freeman.
