Girls Hockey Roundup: LDC advances to Section 2A title game

LITCHFIELD -- The Litchfield/Dassel-Cokato girls hockey team overwhelmed Mankato West 5-0 Saturday, outshooting the Scarlets 49-15 to reach the title game of the Section 2A tournament.

Kennedy Sommerfeld and Paige Forsman both scored twice, Bobbie Jo Benda assisted on three scores and Ali McGraw had two assists.

LDC goalie Abby Roediger made 15 saves to get the win.

The No. 2-seeded Dragons (9-17) will play top-seeded Mankato East/Loyola (16-10) in the championship at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter.

Roseau lived up to its hockey-playing reputation, dominating River Lakes offensively and defensively in a 6-0 win over the Stars in the second round of the Section 8AA playoffs Saturday in Roseau.

The Rams outshot the Stars 35-9 and scored two first-period goals to all but wrap up the game.

The Stars finished the season 15-11-1.

The Morris/Benson Area season came to an end in a loss at Fergus Falls Saturday in the opening round of the Section 6A playoffs.

Fergus Falls controlled the game from the onset, outshooting the Storm 50-8. Abby Hobbs had the hat trick and Lyndia Mann scored two unassisted goals for the Otters.

The Storm finished the season 4-15.
