Girls hockey roundup: River Lakes downs Cards

PAYNESVILLE - Jocie Kooiman and Sydney Caron both scored twice as River Lakes ripped Willmar 7-1 on Saturday in a Central Lakes Conference game.

The third-place Stars improved to 7-3-0 in the conference and 13-9-1 overall.

Willmar, in its last regular-season game, fell to 1-9-0, 5-18-1.

Kooiman scored first, putting one past Willmar goalie Johnika Wodash at 10:42 in the first period. Caron scored a minute later, and Kooiman scored again at 15:14 to give the Stars a 3-0 lead that they would not relinquish.

Miranda Roelofs scored the Cardinals’ lone goal, at 10:11 in the third period with assists from Shelby Schneider and Alex Sobieck.
