Girls Hockey: Willmar, Hutchson skate to 3-3 draw

WILLMAR -- The Willmar Cardinals outshot the Hutchinson Tigers in overtime, but the eight-minute extra period passed scoreless and the section rivals settled for a 3-3 tie on Tuesday night.

WILLMAR -- The Willmar Cardinals outshot the Hutchinson Tigers in overtime, but the eight-minute extra period passed scoreless and the section rivals settled for a 3-3 tie on Tuesday night.

The Tigers, despite being outshot 5-3 in overtime, outshot Willmar 39-26 overall. Willmar goalie Baylie Young finished with 36 saves.

A pair of goals by Miranda Roelofs got Willmar off to a 2-0 lead.

After two Hutchinson goals, Kylee Hulscher's power-play goal at 13:57 of the second period put Willmar up 3-2 before Sara Carlson tied it 3-3 with a power-play goal at 4:28 of the third period.

"We held their top line in check, except for the power play," said Willmar coach Jason Mayer. "We played good defense and Baylie had a big game."
