COLD SPRING - The Willmar girls soccer team snapped a four-game losing streak, downing Rocori 3-1 on Tuesday for their first win in September.
With control of the match against a virtually new Rocori program, the Cardinals’ coaching staff substituted liberally to get younger players time on the field, said Willmar co-head coach David Vinje.
“It was a great opportunity to play a lot of kids,” Vinje said. “It was nice to see.”
Willmar’s Brooklyn Lindblad opened the scoring in the 24th minute and teammate Jenna Stauffenecker also scored unassisted in the 36th minute.
The Cardinals’ Hannah Schirm scored in the 65th minute for a 3-0 lead.
