ST. CLOUD - Shelby Schneider scored the only goal and also contributed a defensive save in Willmar’s 1-0 win over St. Cloud Tech on Tuesday at St. Cloud State.
The Cardinals, who improved to 5-8-1, beat the Tigers for the first time in the history of program.
“It was amazing,” Willmar head coach Chelsea Brown said. “The girls played the game of the season. The intensity, speed and aggression were there in every one of our players.”
Seven minutes in, Schneider took a pass from Hannah Schirm at the top of the 18 and put it past Tech goalie Mariah Koenig.
The Cardinal defense took over from there, only allowing six shots on goal.
Laura Christianson made five saves in net, and Schneider was credited with the other.
Willmar next plays Thursday at home against Brainerd.
