WILLMAR - Seniors Shelby Schneider and Alexis Beccara each netted two goals as the Willmar Cardinals romped 6-0 on Saturday afternoon against Rocori, a yearling varsity program.
With the outcome not expected to be in doubt, the Cardinals focus was ball possession and passing progressions.
“The girls worked together as a team, driving the ball deep downfield and from there did a nice job finding the back of the net,” commented Willmar head coach Chelsea Brown. “This team keeps getting stronger. We are young, but very talented.”
Emilie Zieberth and Stephanie Thompson also scored in a 42-1 command of shots on goal. Jenna Stauffnecker (2), Hannah Schirm (2) and Ingred Lindgren were credited with assists.
Spartans’ keeper Shana Clark made 36 saves.
Willmar hosts Sartell (5-0-3) on Tuesday at 5 p.m.
