ALEXANDRIA -- Jordan Martins stopped 11 shots on goal and the Willmar Cardinals shut out Alexandria 1-0 in a Central Lakes Conference girls soccer night game on Thursday.
Chloe Donoho scored the lone marker about midway through the first half, hitting a cross-shot high to the right corner.
Willmar's defense provided Martins with excellent support. Megan Skalla, Paige Davis, Kayte Cole and Donoho all made defensive saves as the home team outshot the visitors 16-8.
Willmar (5-7-1, 8-8-1) finished a first-time sweep of Alexandria, also winning 2-1 on Sept. 14 at the Kennedy pitch, a win that ended a 12-match losing streak to Alexandria
Willmar hosts Hutchinson at 4:30 p.m. on Monday in the first-round of Section 2A.
