GLENCOE -- With the regular season winding down, Willmar collected an important win for Wednesday's Section 2A playoff seeding by shutting out Glencoe-Silver Lake 7-0 Monday in a non-conference girls soccer match.

Willmar has two games left before opening the playoffs next week. The Cardinals (6-8-1) host Central Lakes Conference rivals Alexandria today and Sauk Rapids on Thursday.

Willmar bolted out to a 6-0 lead at halftime ignited by Chloe Donoho's hat trick. Baylie Young netted two goals and Lucinda Sweazey also scored in the first half. Sara Kallhoff netted the only goal of the second half.

"It's good to beat a section team right before playoffs," said Willmar coach Jeff Winter. "We wanted to set the tone early and we definitely did that in the first half."
