SARTELL — The Willmar girls swimming and diving team ventured to what traditionally has been the best team in the Central Lakes Conference on Thursday.
The Cardinals discovered that Sartell is still quite good.
The Sabres beat Willmar 114-70 to improve to 6-0 in the CLC and 6-0 overall. Willmar fell to 1-3 in the conference and 2-3 overall.
Willmar earned two first-place finishes. In the 100-yard backstroke, junior Ava Brogren took first in 1 minute, 2.50 seconds.
The Cardinals also took first in the 400 freestyle relay, though Sartell swam exhibition in that race. Willmar’s team of seniors Avery Welsh and Kiana Gallinger, ninth-grader Shelby Reed and junior Ava Brogren had a time of 3:56.53.

The Cardinals are scheduled to next compete at 6 p.m. Tuesday against visiting Rocori.
