WILLMAR - New London-Spicer edged Hutchinson 4-3 before downing Willmar 6-1 Thursday at a triangular that Willmar hosted to open its season.

The Wildcats improved to 3-1 on the season while a young Willmar squad won just two matches on the day, both by Hannah Hansen, one of only four seniors on the team.

Hansen didn’t lose a game in her first match of the season playing Hutchinson’s Emma Johnson and won another straight-set dual over MacKenzie Loftness of New London-Spicer.

Both wins came at 3-singles.

Five of the Wildcats’ six wins against Willmar came in straight sets.
