MONTICELLO - Jordyn Swoboda at 2-singles, Elise Bierbaum at 3-singles, Lydia Morrell at 4-singles and the 2-doubles duo of Erica Ellingson and Olivia Corneil all won two matches on Saturday to help Willmar beat Becker 4-3 and Monticello 5-2 at the Monticello Triangular.
“Back-to-back wins are credited to the confidence and smart shot selection on the singles side, and Ellingson and Corneil stepping up their game to contribute two big Cardinal wins at 2-doubles,” said Willmar coach Jim Anderson. “Bierbaum and Morrell continued their steady play, dominating their opponents in straight sets.
Cayle Hovland split her two matches at 1-singles for Willmar, which improved to 7-1 overall.
The Cardinals are at St. Cloud Apollo on Tuesday.

MARSHALL QUAD
The Montevideo girls tennis team dropped just two games winning three matches at the Marshall Quadrangular on Saturday.
The Thunder Hawks defeated Marshall and Worthington, both by 7-0 scores, and they downed Morris/Chokio-Alberta 5-2.
Kailey Maroney was 3-0 at 1-singles and Erica Loose was 2-0 at 2-singles and also won a match at 4-singles.
The T-Hawks improved to 7-2 and play at Minnewaska at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.
