Girls tennis roundup: NLS goes 1-1

ORONO - The New London-Spicer tennis team split a pair of matches at the Orono Triangular on Friday.
The Wildcats defeated Glencoe-Silver Lake 6-1 and fell by the same score to Orono.
Shea Oman picked up two wins at 4-singles, and Louis Lungstrom, Taylor Bengtson and Erin Loterbauer split the other NLS singles matches.
“(Oman) refused to lose today,” said NLS head coach Beth Peterson. “She learned how to close games and stay on the offensive.”
The Wildcats’ doubles teams of Kylie Thompson and Kayla Lobbins, and Michelle Johnson and Emma Spors also split two matches.
“One of the girls’ goals this year was to beat GSL,” Peterson said. “They played extremely well and had no problems achieving that goal.”

Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa won a singles match and a doubles match in a loss at Parkers Prairie on Friday.
BBE’s Morgan Meyer defeated Parkers Prairie’s Maddie Schroeder 6-4, 6-2 at 2-singles.
The Jaguars’ 1-doubles team of Sonja Carson and Ebba Reimers defeated Caroline Carlson and Abby Burquest after losing the first set. They took the second set 6-3 and wrapped up the match 12-10 in a pro set in the third.
