WILLMAR - Sophomore Jordyn Swoboda secured the winning point for Willmar in the Cardinals’ 4-3 Central Lakes Conference win over visiting Brainerd on Thursday.
The Cardinals swept all four singles matches in straight sets. Swoboda went into overtime in both of her sets, winning 7-5, 7-5.
Cayle Hovland won 6-1, 6-3 at No. 1, Elisa Bierbaum rallied to win 7-5, 6-0 at No. 3 and Lydia Morrell won 6-1, 6-2 at No. 4.
Brainerd’s three wins also came in straight sets as the Warriors swept doubles.
Willmar improved to 3-1 in the CLC and now stands at 5-1 overall. The Cardinals have a day off before playing at the Monticello Triangular with Becker on Saturday.
