WILLMAR - The Willmar Cardinals overwhelmed St. Cloud Apollo and will take an 8-10 record into playoffs which start on Friday.
The Cardinals finish the Central Lakes Conference campaign with four wins and six losses.
The No. 5 seed in Section 8AA-South will play No. 4 Rocori at 9:30 a.m. Friday at Fitness Evolution at Sartell. The winner advances to a 4:30 p.m. match between top seed St. Cloud Tech and the No. 8 seed.
The newly formed 2-doubles team of Sydney Fischer/Karina Rice won in straight sets 6-4, 6-2.
All six points were won in straight sets. Jordyn Swoboda kept her returns low and out of the wind to take a 6-1, 6-0 decision.
Junior Bergen Vollan used her backhand to win a tight first set 7-5. Kaylee Chester/Olivia Corneil at 3-doubles finished big points at the net and served/returned well.
