Golf roundup: Peyton Coahran just off the pace at U.S. Junior Sectional Qualifying

Spicer golfer shoots 76 at Bunker Hills. Willmar's Joey Wisocki cards an 82 in the tournament won by Eagan's Tyler Wanous.

COON RAPIDS — Spicer’s Peyton Coahran shot a 4-over-par 76 and Willmar’s Joey Wisocki had a 10-over 82 at the 2022 U.S. Junior Sectional Qualifying Tournament on Tuesday at Bunker Hills Golf Club.

Tyler Wanous of Eagan shot a 4-under 68 to earn one of the five qualifying sports. Owen Nielsen of Edina was second at 70, followed by Mason Roloff of Blaine and Sam Udovich of Inver Grove Heights, who each had 72s. Torger Ohe of Edina was the fifth qualifier with a 73. Justin Luan of Woodbury and Jacob Ferrin of Excelsior were alternates. Luan shot a 73 and Ferrin had a 74.


Brady Howerda aced the 145-yard No. 5 hole on June 15 at the Olivia Golf Club. Howerda used an 8-iron. The shot was witnessed by Savanna Ziller.

“We thought it wasing to be short of the green and then it dropped,” Howerda said. “I couldn’t believe it until I walked up and actually saw it in the hole.”
