WILLMAR - Danny Anderson shot a six-under 102 over 27 holes to win the Eagle Creek Stroke Play Championship on Sunday at Eagle Creek Golf Club.
Anderson shot a pair of 9-hole 33s along with a 36 to top Andy Jacobson and Matt Gorans, who tied for second at 104.
Shawn Bohlsen shot 110 for fourth place and Eric Means shot 112 to place fifth.
In the 18-hole First Flight, Chris Bennett placed first with an 81 and J.D. Kreps was second at 86. Scott Kragh and Corey Nelson both shot 87 to tie for third.
In the 18-hole Senior Flight, Mark Johnson and Rod Johnson both shot 80 to tie for first. Jon Grabow and Norm Strehlow both shot 81 to tie for third.
Former MACCRAY golfer Brady Madsen shot a 54-hole total of 203 to win the Minnesota State Open Championship on Sunday at Rush Creek Golf Club in Maple Grove.
Madsen, playing out of the Olivia Golf Club, shot a 5-under 67 on Sunday and edged Max Tylke, playing out of the Legends Club, by one shot. Madsen’s 13-under, three-round total was two shots better than third-place Van Holmgren of Baker National.
Of the 63 golfers who finished the tournament, 27 finished under par or even par.
Madsen lead after a first-round 65 but shot 71 in his second round and entered the third a shot back of Holmgren. Tylke shot a third-round 66, best in the field, but couldn’t catch Madsen.
Former Minnewaska golfer Brett Buckingham, playing out of the Minnewaska Golf Club, shot an even-par 216 to tie for 22nd, and fellow Minnewaska GC player Scott McDonald tied for 28th at 217.
