JORDAN — Jacqueline Gossen shot 73 to tie for second and the Minnewaska/BBE girls golf team leads the Class AA state championships after Day 1 of the two-day tournament at the Ridges at Sand Creek.

Minnewaska/BBE finished the first round at 313, six shots clear of Red Wing and 12 shots ahead of third-place Detroit Lakes. The second and final round is Wednesday.

Red Wing's Sophia Yoemans shot 69 to lead the field by four shots over Gossen and Red Wing teammate Leah Herzog.

M/BBE's Madi McGinty shot 78 and is tied for ninth, and Emily Harste and Annika Stensrud both shot 81 and are tied at 16th.

Rochester Lourdes' Kyle Hickey shot 72 and leads by one shot. Holy Family Catholic totalled 310 on Day 1 and leads Detroit Lakes by seven shots heading into Wednesday second and final round.

The BOLD and Lac qui Parle Valley girls teams are Nos. 1-2 after the first day of the Class A championships on Tuesday at Pebble Creek Golf Club.

BOLD, the 2017 state champion, leads LQPV, the 2018 state champ, by eight shots. The teams might be locked in a duel: Third place Park Christian is 10 shots back of LQPV and fourth-place Badger/Greenbush-Middle River is 20 shots out of second place.

The tournament's second and final day is Wednesday.

LQPV's Rachel Halvorson, the defending state champion, shot 79 on Tuesday and leads Fillmore Central's Madison Scheevel by three shots.

BOLD's Makayla Snow shot 83 and is in a three-way tie for third. LQPV's Izabella Stender (85, T-6) and BOLD's Ashley Trongard (86, T-8) are among the tournament's top 10.

Reid shot 72 and lead Park Christian's Alex Iverson by two shots.

Lac qui Parle Valley's Harrison Patzer shot 77 and is in fourth place, and the Eagles are also in fourth, 22 shots behind tournament leader Springfield.

The tournament's second and final day is Wednesday.
