MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- The Minnesota men's basketball team has added another scholarship player for next season, signing shooting guard Maverick Ahanmisi to a national letter of intent.

The school announced the news Tuesday.

The 6-foot-2 Ahanmisi played last season at Stoneridge Prep in Simi Valley, Calif., averaging 20 points per game. He previously played at and graduated from Golden Valley High School in Santa Clarita, Calif., finishing as the school's all-time leading scorer and 3-point shooter.

Ahanmisi joins centers Elliott Eliason and Maurice Walker, forward Oto Osenieks and shooting guard Austin Hollins in Minnesota's recruiting class this fall.

The Gophers went 21-14 last season, losing in the first round of the NCAA tournament to Xavier.
