NEW LONDON — The New London-Spicer gymnastics team edged Willmar in a non-conference dual Tuesday night.
The Wildcats scored 134.95 points to Willmar’s 133.425.
Lil Sampson won the vault for NLS with a 9.1 and Abby Knudsen captured first on the balance beam with an 8.6. Knudsen also took second to Willmar’s Abby Coquyt in all-around scoring with a 33.625. Coquyt scored 35.175.
“We had an OK meet for the first one,” NLS head coach Cindy Jacobson said. “We did some good things, but we also have a lot of fine-tuning to do to a lot of routines.”
NLS senior Maddy Iverson was out with an injury and ninth-grader Ciera Anderson got hurt on the vault, forcing her to sit out the rest of the meet for the Wildcats.
Willmar is host to Alexandria at 6 p.m. Thursday. NLS competes at 6 p.m. Thursday at Rockford.
