High School Basketball: Heartbreak again for Minnewaska Lakers

Read how Minnewaska suffered its third close loss of the early season

GLENWOOD — The Minnewaska girls basketball team has had nothing but tough luck to start the year.

Coming off an overtime defeat two days prior, the Lakers suffered their second one-point loss of the season after falling to Melrose 31-30 in a West Central Conference game on Saturday.

Minnewaska junior point guard Maddie Thorfinnson had a game-high 15 points. Senior post Isabelle Ortendahl added six points and eight rebounds.

Madi Stusse-Birch paced the visitors with eight points.

In search of their first win, the Lakers visit Sauk Centre at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
