High School Bowling: Alexandria wins league playoff

YME wins overall conference title, but host Alexandria won the conference playoffs over the weekend.

ALEXANDRIA — The Yellow Medicine East Team No. 1 won the conference playoffs this weekend in Alexandria. YME finished with 1,425 pins to earn first place.

In the first round of the playoffs, YME No. 1 beat New London Black and Alexandria beat New London Gold.

In the finals, Alexandria beat YME No. 1 to earn the league playoff title.

Named to the all-honors team this fall were: Kadin Brabender and Keelan Darger from Willmar; and Christian Rogers, Andrew Sharp and Bradyn Hansen from New London.

Named to the all-conference team were: Brabender from Willmar and Rogers from New London. The honor is based upon 70 percent on frames bowled and the highest percentage.

The teams competed in a three-person Baker team event this fall. The regular, five-person Baker team conference takes place in the spring.

Willmar is coached by Chuck Loso. New London is coached by Billie Johnson and Evan Nelson.

The final conference standings: (1) Yellow Medicine East No. 1 1,425 (2) Alexandria 1,321 (3) New London Gold 1,224 (4) New London Black 1,207 (5) Willmar 1,130 (6) YME No. 2 1,065 (7) Montevideo 810.
