OLIVIA — BOLD responded in a big way on a short week.
After being shut out by Eden Valley-Watkins in Week 5 to end a 39-game regular-season win streak, the seventh-ranked (in Class A) Warriors jumped out to a 28-0 halftime lead en route to a 35-14 home victory Wednesday against Kimball.
After the Cubs’ opening drive ended with a fumble recovery by BOLD’s Xavier Basaldua, the Warriors needed just two plays to reach the end zone as Drew Sagedahl broke free for a 34-yard touchdown run.

BOLD scored once more in the first quarter as fullback Tim Peppel stiff-armed and bulldozed his way to a touchdown run of 28 yards. Peppel led the rushing attack with 187 yards on 23 carries.
Fourteen seconds into the second quarter, Sagedahl found the end zone once again with a 21-yard TD run. Then with 22 seconds to go before halftime, the Warriors’ Avery Herdina hauled in a pass from Sagedahl for a 25-yard score.
After using his legs and arm, Sagedahl got to show off his hands as he lined up wide and caught a 7-yard touchdown pass from Braeden Tersteeg.
Finishing the regular season at 5-1, the Warriors await the start of the Section 5A tournament, which is set to begin on Tuesday, Nov. 17. The section field has three teams ranked in Wednesday’s state football poll: Minneota (third), Dawson-Boyd (fourth) and BOLD (tied for seventh).
